There are these two young fish swimming along and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says: "Morning, boys. How's the water?" And the two young fish swim on for a bit, and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes "What the hell is water?"

Today’s environment necessitates both strength and protection. The Fall-Winter 2020 collection initiated a dialog between these ideas. To understand the elements that we are faced with everyday, to feel strong, to feel empowered. To be prepared to make necessary changes. To achieve the correct balance between quality, aesthetics, and functionality. And at the same time, to have a shield from the aggression that surrounds us, to somehow feel safe.

The collection initiates with sharp, precise tailoring with a generous volume. Strong wool trousers, jackets, and coats are combined with soft, fluid wool or yarn-dyed viscose shirting. Layering is deliberate and monotone. Metal hardware on belts and shoes provides grounding and rigid structure.

Explorations of softness are present. Vertical quilting on compact cotton is elongated and elegant, while more military-inspired garment-dyed nylon quilting becomes rounded with oversized, cinched and darted trousers. Fully vulcanized hammerhead-toed boots underline a protective feeling. Inflated coats in functional coated cottons, and felted wool topcoats are belted with traditional kimono cords from Japan. Photos by Daido Moriyama are found on cotton matelassé and open-stitch knit, a contrast between his high-contrast reality with soft, comforting textures.
Bags, as the garments, are both sharp and precise or soft and protective. Flat, small accessory pouches are worn cross-body with oversized straps, at times with inflated quilted mittens, rigid cotton canvas and leather horizontal tote bags are clutched at the side. Soft quilted garment-dyed bags are also present, finished with sturdy cotton and leather.

Fabrics are custom developed in Italy and Japan: span double-faced wools, high-shine coated cottons, taped-seam nylons, functional cottons, sharp Japanese wools, felted wool coating, wool gobelin jacquards, cotton matelassé, and fluid viscose.
OAMC and adidas Originals have developed 3 new silhouettes this season, Type O-8, a fully vulcanized oversized rubber boot and Type O-6 a running silhouette with a custom formed sculptural outsole that features Torsion technology. Type O-7 is also present in the collection, an OAMC interpretation of the classic Samba.
